Burberry is excited to announce the reopening of its renovated East 57th Street flagship store. Featuring collaborations with British artists, bespoke design touches and nods to London architecture, the space at once offers a modern take on classic British luxury and an opportunity to explore the brand's storied heritage.

First opened in 1978, the East 57th Street store is set over three floors. Oversized windows flood the space with light and blur the boundary between outdoor and interior environments. Viewed from within, New York City’s ever-changing backdrop becomes part of the space, while materials, including natural stone inspired by British limestone and railings similar to those found on the streets of London, speak to Burberry’s roots.

Further nods to the brand’s heritage are seen throughout the store, including seating areas furnished with Chesterfield sofas, and displays featuring iconic Burberry designs. For a unique British touch during client appointments, Burberry is introducing new tableware and tea service. The tableware is by the renowned David Mellor, Royal Designer for Industry. His son, Corin Mellor, designed the tea service, featuring overtones of classic 18th-century English cutlery.

Continuing Burberry’s practice of celebrating and supporting artists, the East 57th Street store features hand-tufted textile installations by Tom Atton Moore. The artworks create a bucolic backdrop for displays of outerwear, accessories and shoes, which are part of ‘It’s Always Burberry Weather’, a campaign grounded in functionality and the outdoors.

The window displays feature advertising from Burberry’s archive, aspects of which are revisited instore as part of an exhibition exploring Burberry’s heritage. There are replicas of the gabardine clothes worn by the British-Irish explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton, as well as replicas of trench coats worn during the First and Second World Wars. The display also includes new-season trench coats and Heritage Trench Coats made at Burberry’s Castleford factory in Yorkshire, England. QR codes which link to Burberry’s brand story are available to guide customers on their learning journey.

The continuation of that brand story is highlighted in pieces from the Winter 2024 collection, which include new takes on trench coats, duffle coats and parkas, as well as full-length kilts, shearling jackets and Savile Row-inspired tailoring.

Debuting exclusively in our New York flagship, customers can discover a new made-to-order service for the Castleford trench, available in supple leather or suede, in colour options inspired by British landscapes. The reopened East 57th Street store will also be the first to offer the Castleford in two new colours for women and men: stoat and peat, which are both lined with Burberry Check.

As of East 57th Street’s reopening, Burberry counts over 50 stores in the United States.

Burberry East 57th Street is located at 9 East 57th Street, New York, NY 10022.
