Burberry releases new Christmas campaign

Our new Christmas campaign celebrates the eccentricity of a British Christmas.

Shot and directed by British artist and photographer Juno Calypso, the campaign explores celebratory Christmas traditions and rituals and is centred around a film entitled ‘Close Your Eyes and Think of Christmas’. The campaign features an all-star cast including Kristin Scott Thomas and M.I.A, who make their Burberry campaign debut, alongside previous campaign stars Matt Smith and Naomi Campbell. Valerie Morris-Campbell, Naomi’s mother, also appears.

‘I wanted to portray a more realistic British Christmas, but still shot through a fantasy lens. The campaign takes you through all the key seasonal rituals, both good and bad. That’s what brings us together.’ said Juno Calypso of her inspiration behind her work.

From the unpredictable British weather, to family togetherness, delayed trains and feasts, these themes are captured through Juno’s subverted and unexpected lens. The campaign is rooted in iconic Burberry pieces for men and women; from the trench coat, car coat, TB Monogram and archive-print scarves, to The Belt Bag, tailoring and evening wear.

Commenting on her involvement in the campaign, Naomi Campbell said, ‘over the past few years, Burberry has become known for these campaigns and I feel honoured to take part in another one. I have always loved Burberry for its distinctive British feel and I am so excited to work alongside a cast which includes my own mother, Valerie. Working with her brought back so many memories of the holidays and traditions I had growing up – so that felt extremely special.’

A preview of the new Vivienne Westwood & Burberry collaboration also features in the campaign, worn by Naomi Campbell and Valerie Morris- Campbell. The 16-piece collection will launch in store and online on 6 December.
